Entrex PCI data shows continued growth in mid market sector
Chicago, IL – September 25, 2009 For August 2009, the Private Company Index (PCI) report continues to show positive revenue growth trends in the mid market private company sector. This month the PCI is up 3.60% making the year to date increase an impressive 31%. At the same time, the public capital market, at large, is continuing to have a sluggish recovery from the significant losses that began in Q3 2008.
Official report of this information was released by National Public Radio’s affiliate station in South Florida on the program "On the Money! with Steve Pomeranz" and continues to be a featured segment on that program each month.
Other broad spectrum economic data supports an economy recovery within this sector of entrepreneurial companies. The Consumer Price Index-U reported an increase of .4% for August 2009. The CPI – U represents companies that provide products or services, as do many of the PCI companies. Growth indicates that the PCI-type companies were able to adapt quickly to the lack of consumer confidence and take action to reset the market value for their goods that serves to maintain or increase levels of revenue or sales.
The major capital markets are also showing growth this period. The Dow (^DJI) was up 3.54% this month, the Nasdaq Composite (^IXIC) up 1.54% and the S&P Small Cap 600 (^SML) grew 2.19%. The overall growth is a positive indicator that the economy is beginning to stabilize.
Stephen H. Watkins, CEO of Entrex and corporate sponsor of the PCI, notes that “the mid market private company sector has the amazing ability to respond to market trends in order to minimize the effects of the volatility and indecision seen in the economic marketplace at large.”
